Nourishing Lung Tea

$17.00

This blend was made out of necessity for a family member with chronic respiratory issues. I found this specific blend of herbs to not only sooth the throat, but to calm bronchial spasms and encourage the body to expel excess mucus. It can be used in acute illness or long-term prevention. I don’t recommend this tea for long term usage while pregnant but would consider it for short term use during sickness. Red Clover & Tulsi have had contradictory recommendations in pregnancy. I’m of the belief that mamas should know their own bodies and be aware of that when using this tea. It is safe for breastfeeding & children.

This blend is the most popular one in my own home. It has a mild flavor but gets the job done quickly when it comes to calming down the respiratory system. Instead of brewing one cup at a time, I’ll often make a large batch and keep it in the fridge for easy access.

Mullein is my go-to herb for lung health. It’s an excellent mucus expectorant & nourishing herb to the respiratory system.

Red Clover Blossoms are anti-spasmodic as well as minerally rich.

Oat Straw is soothing to the nervous system.

Marshmallow Root helps sooth the throat and moisten mucus membranes where needed in the body.

Rose Hips were added for their Vitamin C boost.

Holy Basil (Tulsi) is an adaptogen and also an excellent addition for respiratory support. This herb has mixed recommendations for use in pregnancy due to its lack of studies. Tulsi is used in a minimal amount for this blend and overall as an adaptogen, I would consider gentle enough for use. Use at your own discretion though as you alone know your own body.

To make a large batch, take 3-4 TBSP of herbs and add to a quart jar. Add your hot water over the herbs up to the top of the quart jar. Cover and steep for a minimum of 20 minutes. Strain out the herbs and store in the fridge for up to 48 hours. I personally find this blend tasty served hot or cold and sweetened with either raw honey or pure maple syrup.
